Three Sentence Prompt: Lilo & Stitch, Lilo, any
100 Fandoms Prompt: Snap
Fandom: Lilo & Stitch

It was a hot and sunny day, the beach was crowded and Lilo scampered among the various tourists snapping away with her camera. This time she had an extra goal and the number of different people—so many—a funny seagull and a cute fish—she paused for a moment to feed it some snacks she kept in a bag at her side—were excellent targets. When she decided she had enough she ran back home with delight, knowing she had the perfect batch of distractions for the forlorn Stitch who had at last discovered a limit to his appetite.

Three Sentence Prompt: Any, any, "Put me down, you're drunk."
100 Fandoms Prompt: Wallow
Fandom: Howl's Moving Castle

"Not drunk enough!" Howl lamented to Calcifer's frantic demands and he wouldn't have cared if the wizard hadn't scooped the wood he clung to in wavering hands while the spirit could only cling helplessly, watching the wood burn away, not really listening to Howl's ramblings.

But somehow through the cloud of mournful drunken despair Howl must have registered Calcifer's plight and demands to put him down because he finally did at last, and Calcifer slunk deeper into the hearth well away from the consequences of another failed endeavour with a lady.

Calcifer hid, Howl moaned and the whole of the castle remained in a sulk for the rest of the day until it was all forgotten in the morning.

Three Sentence Prompt: Gargoyles, Elisa, flying
100 Fandoms Prompt: Lighting
Fandom: Gargoyles

There were some things Elisa knew she would never get used to.

Goliath's arm was firmly around her and she knew she was safe; she could stare at the sky above lit by the silver moon and stars closer now than before and the city below in a sight both comfortingly familiar for how many times she walked those streets and utterly new, lit by a thousand glows of streetlamps and car lights as people went about their business like any other day in a mosaic spread before her.

There were some things she would never get used to and it was for the better if it meant a breathtaking sight like this every time.

Three Sentence Prompt:100 Fandoms Prompt: Oversight
Fandom: To Say Nothing of the Dog

I should have known after that long wet night along the river with Princess Arjumand and the many long days after trying to keep her from meeting her watery fate all over again. Maybe I let time soften the memories or maybe I thought time-lag made it seem worse than it was.

Either way I never put much consideration into the old phrase "like herding cats" and now we paid the price for not giving the phrase the respect it deserved, as Verity managed to return one wriggling kitten back into their pen just in time for another to spring out while I tried to stop her sibling from bolting from the room, but as I put him back in the pen (again), the look I exchanged with Verity was equal parts exhaustion, exasperation and fondness and yes, herding cats isn't for the faint of heart, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

It is a place of stillness and silence. It is a place of death hidden under raised earth. Once, a being oversaw all until shadow guided by light came and silence was shattered by colossus’s fall. It is a place of death above and below.
Until a bird hops among stone where flowers bloom. Where death falls life rises. It could be ribs, it could be mere rock. It matters not to the small creature, but it doesn’t linger. It senses something once dwelt here, deep and powerful. The bird takes wing and leaves the dead to rest in peace.

Summary: She can no longer feel a fire's warmth, but it's okay. It's okay.

They're settled in around the fire for another night. Lloyd and Genis's chatter fill Colette's ears and she enjoys listening, though she stays out of their conversation this time. Raine is buried in a book, but she finds comfort in their teacher’s presence; she’s so grateful she came. Kratos is silent and watchful. The mercenary is still a stranger in many ways, but she finds a comfort in him as well. Noishe has taken up residence beside her, his head resting on his paws and she absently strokes his head in silent thanks.

It is a comfortable night. They're here, all together and the fire crackles pleasantly. She reaches a hand towards it and feels nothing. She tries to tell herself she's getting used to it. She is getting used to it. It's not all bad after all. It's still pretty and provides light. In a way it's like a painting, but better. She can enjoy the appearance without feeling the heat. At least she can't burn herself, or rather she wouldn't feel the pain of doing so, and that's good, isn't it?

Lloyd laughs at a comment she didn’t catch. It's a happy night with her friends. They'll have many happy days and nights ahead of him. The journey will end and they can have this for as long as they want and she is so, so happy for them.

She can’t feel the warmth of the fire, but she can take a different warmth from her friends and give it back in turn. She smiles.

Summary: Pigeon Man was expecting Cabanela; he wasn't expecting a minor unexplained mystery

Rain washes down the window. The professor sets the kettle on the stove with a slight frown. He should have been here by now if he was coming at all. Sense dictates calling a rain check in its most literal form, but then while the professor is willing to concede to intelligence and general cleverness, he is quite ready to hold up sense as a point for debate.

Point proven when the door flies open, letting the rain in briefly before Cabanela lets it fall shut behind him. The professor raises an eyebrow at him.

"You're late."

The man is drenched, water dripping off his coat, hair falling apart from its normal styling. How long had the fool been out there?

"Haven't heard of an umbrella, have you?"

Cabanela waves an airy hand. "Had a bit of an iiincident. It's gettin' some use I can tell you that."

"What are you babbling about?"

He tosses himself into the chair near the stove and stretches out comfortably. "Nothin' mooore than the machinations of a clever opponent, baby." With that mysterious comment he brushes away some stray drops from his coat and gives the kettle an interested—possibly overly so, in the professor's opinion—look. "Is that tea?"

The professor pours him a mug with a shake of his head, still wondering what on earth he’s on about and passes it to him. "Care to elaborate?"

Cabanela only lifts the mug in reply. "Cheers, prof!"

In a darkened park the rain continues to beat down accompanied by the sound of rustling grass. If there was anyone to see it, they would see a yellow shape moving through the grass, resolving itself into an open, bright yellow umbrella.

From behind a head emerges on a long and elegant white neck. Wings flare and the quiet of the park is broken by a triumphant honk.

Krile expected the air inside to be cool. It wasn’t cool nor was it warm. It simply was. Her steps were quiet as if the very stone called for silence. And there it lay ahead of her—the light, the path, her journey.

“Are you certain, princess?”

“You’re far too young to take this risk.”

“You don’t know what waits on the other side.”

He needed her. The worlds needed all their help. There was no choice but to trust in the meteor. For the world, for her grandpa, she would take this chance. She stepped forward.

“I’m coming, grandfather.”

A little drabble for  the little game, I and Me, which is honesty more melancholic than cute little fuzzy cats imply.

When the rain falls what do I feel? It’s dark and lonely in this place. The drops are all around me but I am alone among them. One drop falls and another and another, rippling outward farther and farther away from me. It’s this world. It’s another world. I reach out but I cannot touch it. It’s separate from me. I think that’s okay. Isn’t it?

Am I alone? Do I want to be alone?

Then I see me. I am here and I am there. In the rain we are separate and we are one. I’m not alone now.

"The sun once smiled on this village more than any other..." —Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
A moogle goes about his days

It has not been a good day, the moogle decides, nudging the unsatisfactory basket with his foot. A couple wrinkly striped apples, and the one fish he managed to catch rest at the bottom.

He might have a word with old farmer Elmoah. Such poor quality doesn’t bear thinking about kupo. Fishing hasn’t been good either and a slew of muffled muttering around the handle of a half-empty basket sounds through the still evening as flies his slow way home.

It’s dark by the time he returns and he fumbles around sorting out the poor basket and lighting a lamp. Tired from such a bothersome day, he slumps into the rocking chair by the hearth, prepared to settle in for the rest of the evening.

Time passes before he shivers and slides off the chair with a muttered kupo. He wheezes through a cloud of dust as he prods at the hearth. It has grown more difficult which seems decidedly unfair for the want of simple heat. Perhaps that lilty lad could take another look soon.

With a sneeze and a startled kupheh a spark at last sets the wood alight and the room is filled with the warm crackle of the fire.

He peers around blearily. Yes, the young lad could certainly be furnished with some work. Despite the fire’s warmth a chill quivers through him. Quite abominable how messy it’s become, kupo. Busy is as busy does and as busy leaves, or aching feet as it were. How they ache. It seems only yesterday he danced at the festival while they celebrated another year and another drop of myrrh.

How many months now? Months? Yes… months… They’ll no doubt be back soon. He hopes his wings and feet will be up to the task of celebration.

Oh he does ache and grumblingly clambers back into his chair. The fire is good. Warmth and company is most welcome. The chair is soothing as it rocks him back and forth, back and forth…

The fire has died. It’s morning now, dust drifting, almost sparkling in the weak sunbeam through his window. He strolls out with a merrily hummed tune around the basket of flowers. It’s a day of gifts and no one will be left lacking. He flaps his wings and again and a third time before taking to the air. The paths are harder to traverse these days, and he flies to the village centre.

One flower given to each. Here she danced with light and airy steps. Here the couple showed their joy in a new life’s start to come. And here the children’s laughter rang loud and clear. There the elder hemmed and hawed through a story to a barely kept audience. And here, here the caravan gathered. One by one they are given, flowers for all, splashes of muted colour over dull stone.

Flowers for all, withered stems in the grey light.

Prompt: Home
Fandom: Chrono Trigger

AO3

It isn't home, only a stepping stone.

This wasn’t home.

The Prophet’s footsteps echoed in the halls as he left the throne room, another meeting with the Queen completed. Only the Queen, nothing more to him, pitiful and weak. He had been surprised at how easy it had been to bend her ear to his will. Foolish woman, her thoughts were no longer her own, now shared between two forces.

He found her near the doors to the Mammon Machine, accursed thing. She stood, a lone pillar, the one bright spot in this rotting kingdom. Fingers ran over her pendant and her gaze repeatedly went to the door until she spotted him. Her eyes widened briefly before turning hard. She stepped aside with a polite nod of her head. A cold dismissal with far more power than the so-called Queen could ever conceive of.

This wasn’t home. Even as the powerless boy he’d long stopped considering it such. The woman before him was home, a place he’d never felt so sick for until now. He longed to speak with her as they once did, to share their worries and their hopes. He turned away, drawing his cloak closer, aloof and shielded. Her enemy. Nothing more.

Nothing else mattered. This time would be different. Revenge would be his and salvation hers.
